It would be really cool if Regina's music were recognized, but if not, that'd be okay too, given some of the s**t that gets nominated, if that makes any sense.

I'm pretty sure Taylor Swift's "Fearless" is just about guaranteed Best Album anyway (just judging from how these things work) but it would be great to see Far nominated anyway. Or least up for whichever genre-specific categories the Committee decides to group it in.

THIS article pretty much sums up the bullshit of The Grammys.

I think the Grammys are nothing more than some gigantic promotional machine for the music industry. They don't honor the arts or the artist for what he created. It's the music business celebrating itself, Keenan explained.

It even mentions Regina.

Why REGINA SPEKTOR Does Not Have a Grammy Or Even a Nomination

Keenan’s insight helps explain why Mariah Carey has five wins, but the brilliant Ani DiFranco has just one win and DiFranco's statue is not even for her music (the Grammy is for Best Recording Package).

It also helps one understand why Avril Lavigne has been recognized by the Grammys with nominations, but songwriting prodigy REGINA SPEKTOR has never been up for an award.

MTV’s Jackass did not win an Emmy over The Sopranos; but, if they did, that would be about the degree of insanity that drives Grammy voters to nominate and award Britney Spears over REGINA SPEKTOR.

^^ Maybe someone will read that, get the hint, and give her her deserved nominations this year! far for Album of the Year, Eet for Record of the Year, and, just for good measure, Laughing With for Song of the Year.

What's the difference between record of the year and song of the year?

I got it now, song of they year is to the singer/ composer. While Record is for the singer and the production team.

Now here's a funny little thing to think about with all this Grammy talk: If Regina is not recognized in 2010 at least with some sort of nomination for something, then does that mean the Grammy's suck and they just never get it right? (well of course it would mean that) Smiler But: What if....... she did get a big nod for something, or actually won an award, or got to (gulp!) perform. Would that mean that we've all been wrong about the Grammy's? And if we were proud of her for it, would that make us all sell outs for how we feel about previous Grammy's because we got what WE wanted this time? Or would it mean that they just got it right FOR ONCE? SmilerOR!!- Are we all just hopeless Regina fanatics that think everything's bogus unless whatever it is, is praising her? Smiler Well I know how I feel, (and I think I'm right) Smiler but I'll let you guys comment if you want. Food for thought though: Remember Paul McCartney's performance 2 or 3 years ago with Ellen Degeneres as host? THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME THE GRAMMY"S EVER INVITED HIM TO PERFORM!!!!! (ooops! I was trying to end this on a neutral note)(oh well)Smiler

P.S. - McCartney did 'Helter Skelter' that year. look it up, it was crazy good (for a guy in his 60's)
