OMG that is so hard to answer oooo uhhhh shit its been two weeks of thinking and I have come to a coclusion.......Begin to Hope just by a teensy winy super tiny bit.

Mainly because of its bonus songs....speaking of bonus songs I am gonna listen to Another Town..

LOL I am having second thoughts on that. I think its a tie. Far is staring to grow on me and I think it may pass Begin to Hope. OMG IDK this is like the hardest question ever in the history of humanitys questions....

Update: Far is just slightly better. Just by a little- 8/30/09 2:30 P.M.

Update: Begin to Hope just a little better. Due to its bonus songs......I think I have reached a conclusion that will mabye stick...... 5:05 PM 9/10/09

Update: Far beats BTH by a decent amount.

Far or Soviet Kitsch? - that is a really hard question for me but BTH is definitely not my favourite. There are few reg songs that I don't like and almost all of them are on BTH. I love Far from A-Z. So, definitely Far for me.

Far, because it's not as hardcore poppyness like Begin To Hope, and some of my favorite songs are on Far, and the studio version of Edit never did it for me...

I feel the same way. I adore every second of Far, but I can't always say the same of BTH.

I have to say BTH but only with the special edition part attached because it has some of my FAVORITE songs on there.

BTH has On The Radio, Fidelity, Dusseldorf, Bartender, Music Box, Apres Moi, 20 years of Snow, That Time, Hotel Song, Better, Summer in the City, hero.

songs that I have listened to soo many times when I discovered regina and BTH is where I did discover regina's music so I have to hold it close to me and say BTH. Its one of my favess.

but Far. idk, I feel like im getting a GOOD mix of regina's classic self with a bit of new stuff that she has learned working with producers. I can't really say but for right NOW, I have to go with Begin to Hope.

It probably won't change your mind but Ode to Divorce and Your Honour are on SK.

To me the bonus songs are the best of BTH.

BtH doesn't have Ode to Divorce or Your Honor. Those are both on Soviet Kitsch.

EDIT: haha I see someone beat me to the punch

Agreed!!

And that's one of the contributing factors when i say far(t) is my favorite. i like far better because it feels like it isn't trying as hard as BTH was.

BTH has great songs, esp. the bonus tracks, but it felt like the songs featured on the album weren't being featured at all, but toyed with and chipped at in order to have them all "match up" for the album. i'm not saying that an album being a unit is a bad thing. Some of my favorite albums are my favorites simply because they're composed of songs that play brilliantly together. But BTH made it clear to me just how singular Regina's songs are.

You can't really take any number of them and try to string them together for a purpose. Not without compromising what makes each individual song special to begin with.I like the songs and everything (most of them), but i feel that far does greater justice to its content: content from an artist who is not only diverse, quirky, and creative (all traits portrayed on BTH) but who also starts with a "squeaky clean" slate every time. The songs aren't written to be made into an album, but to stand in their own individual spotlights. And without sounding amatureish or choppy, far(t) distinguishes the vibes and sounds of the songs more clearly than BTH does.

Just my humble opinion. Don't bite me, please!

Yea BTH has:

Fidelity, Better, Samson, On the Radio, Hotel Song, That Time, Another Town, and Music Box.

Far has:

The Calculation, Eet, Folding Chair, Two Birds, Dance Anthem of the 80s, Laughing With, Time is all Around, and Riot Gear.

Far mabye new, but BTH is just a little better. One of the contributing factors is its bonus songs. Far is just barely right behind it whith its high artistic value and Creativeness.
BTH and Far are in my opinion, the two best albums ever made.

And that is precisely why Soviet Kitsch is in my mind The best album. It doesn't meddle with any of the songs and lets them stand on their own and be appreciated for themselves. It's also this quality that ties the album together as a whole if that makes any sense. The fact that noone tries to make them fit together into a cohesive album is a common quality that ties the songs into a cohesive album. Trippy man...

It's funny you guys should mention that, since in that radio interview in LA a few weeks ago Regina said pretty much the exact same thing.
The interviewer asked what it was like trying to make a cohesive album whilst working with four different producers, and she said something along the lines of: "I've never had much interest in making an album 'cohesive', but rather I prefer to make an album a collection of really great songs."

So she clearly agrees with you/us, haha.
