Some of my thoughts......
"Real Love" was beautiful. It was a highlight for me. The show was great. Too bad I was sitting really close so the piano didn't sound as nice as I would have liked. Regina's vocals were awesome! I love when she plays guitar. I also really enjoyed "The Wallet". I enjoyed the singer of Only Son. He reminded me of Michael Penn. He had interesting chord changes. Chris Barron WAS very entertaining. He is a really funny guy and his lyrics are fun. I guess I am pretty lucky to have THIS show be my first Regina Show. It was really special! |

she hasn't but it would have been interesting indeed
yeah, she's amazing in jazz/blues. "Lady", "Back of a truck" , "2.99 cents blues " "Love affair" "All is love" (she sounds "björkish" on this veyr very short one, it's strange )etc ... i love them |

Regarding Regina as a blues/jazz singer, I'm probably rehashing an old idea here, but she mentioned that she was really into jazz when she was in college, to the point she was "drunk of it," but felt that she needed to find her own voice (as an artist)... hence the kinds of songs she writes now.
"It's like saying, I could cook a little at home.' But then someone's like, 'Dude, you could be a gourmet!' And you're like, 'Fuck you! I make omelets. Yeah, I'm a gourmet." |

I agree with the set list as I did write it down. Are "Small town moon" and "the Wallet" new or old songs??
Unfortunately I did not record the show but it was a huge success. We arrived at 7PM and the extra tickets were sold within 30 minutes to happy students who do not want to stand in the back. She seemed quite stunned to be back at her school but that did not stop her from blowing us away. She was brilliant at SUNY Purchase. I have seen her with her band which is great but to see her “unplugged” for the entire show truly was a gift. He is a remarkable singer, songwriter, pianist and musician. I would argue Best Female Vocalist from North America. I think that her “cover” of the Lennon song shows a new confidence coming out. Interestingly, the program for the concert claimed that “Begin to Hope” is number 20 of 200 top Billboard CDs. Thank you Regina, it was a night to remember!! I was a the Show last night at SUNY Purchase. 9th Row, dead Center stage. What GREAT seats! Eye level with Regina, seated at her beautiful sounding Grand Piano.
The venue was amazing. The Concert Hall at Purchase is quite a Spectacular Location. It is quite different from the last Venue I saw Regina perform at in Late September, 2006, at Toad's Place in New Haven, CT. Being able to sit in soft comfortable seats is a rare treat for Regina Concert goers. The Show was fantastic, I shot 3 good video clips in AVI format. When I figure out how to reduce them from 300MB and 500MB, I'll post them someplace like YouTube. A friend of mine also recorded the "Entire" show in hi-fi stereo, so I hope to have some tracks for everyone to enjoy in about 2 weeks. Regina really rocked the house! I must say that It was one heck of a late show. It opened with two different performers as the "Warm Up", which then led to a 20+ minute intermission before Regina finally came on stage. By the time I got home to Eastern Connecticut, it was nearly 2AM! The show was well worth every second of the drive! The only negative thing I experienced where a few SLR type cameras that were clicking away! It is fine to shoot openly on the louder songs, but on Regina's mellow, quite songs, it is HIGHLY annoying to hear... Click Click Click Click Click..... Some people do not have an ounce of courtesy for Regina or her audience, when they start clicking off 3 to 8 shots in rapid fire mode, while the house is dead silent, trying listen to the sweet voice of Regina. UGH! "...You laugh until you cry, you cry until you laugh, and everyone must breath until their dying breath..." |
