Whoah! Didn't see this coming! Was just dumbfounded and amazed to see Montreal on her tour schedule - I actually even got the concert place wrong when I set out to get tickets - I went to the Spectrum (which had actually shut down years ago...) fortunately the Metropolis is only about 6 blocks away from the non-existant other place - I was caught off-gaurd...so.... this'll be the first time seeing her ... Will report back on this...

Montreal Spektorscope report
OK - here's some on-the-field updates - countdown - 47 days and counting... they put ads for the show in the local alternative weekly papers - opening act - Little Joy - they're offerin' two free video downloads if you buy your tickets online - I did not know this - I bought em the old-fashioned way... Also in that Rolling Stone interview, she says that her heroes are Mozart, Shakepeare, and Kafka,... she ate so many bananas as a kid that she couldn't touch one for ten years... if she had more time she'd do a punk record, a techno record, and an opera.... |

Spektoscope report #3 -
Yeah they play Regina on the CBC radio, in Canada. It's National Public Radio - they don't have heavy rotation playlists, but I heard the Calculation the other and others once in a while - on a show called Shift - They used to be 80% classical music then suddenly switched to 50% alternative pop - but all the classical people must've complained because Shift is a program that starts with classical music and gradually gets less classical, so people aren't too shocked by the pop music transition. |

Spektorscope Montreal #4 -
Nothing to report. Well, Tori Amos is in town a few weeks before Regina. And the show just before Regina's at the same venue is none other than Mötorhead! So you know the show is going to be good. |

Montreal always gets such a good setlist from Tori. I can't believe she did frickin Beulah Land during solo time. Oh well, I got more than I could ever ask for at my shows. LOL. Doesn't mean I can't still turn green at other setlists from other cities. ~~~~~~~ God, I pity the violins In glass coffins They keep coughing They've forgotten, forgotten how to sing |

Official Spektorscope Montreal Concert Report
So yeah - awesome gig - Little Joy made it - Regina even called them 'Petite Joie' - she was into speaking French - the place was jam-packed, it was sold out - it's a club - with some seating on the second floor - she didn't do a whole lot of chatting - a litttle - like when Pete, the sound guy came out to adjust her mike, some dude from the crowd yelled out ' I want your baby' to which she replied, 'Pete's?' So nice of the locals to want to procreate with the sound guy. It was awesome, the crowd was applauding furiously at every song - just a great show, the sound was excellent, she sang stuff differently, some great renditions, I hope someone taped the show, it'd make a killer bootleg - she hit the stage around 8:50 and ended around 10:20 - 1-The Calculation 2-Eet 3-Folding Chair 4-Ode to Divorce 5-Machine 6-Laughing With 7-One More Time with Feeling 8-Blue Lips 9-Two Birds 10-On The Radio 11-Dance Anthem OF The 80's 12-Bobbing For Apples 13-That Time 14-Apres Moi 15-Poor Little Rich Boy 16-Wallet 17-Human of the Year 18-Man Of A Thousand Faces 19-Samson 20-Us 21-Fidelity 22-Hotel Song 23-Love, You're A Whore |

^^^ I'm loving the "Love, You're a Whore" comeback!!! And as the last song in the gig? That's "Us" or "Fidelity" territory! I have a next album prediction...
- "You peer inside yourself..." |

Just a 'ditto' to Kwezzy Ket's post. The Montréal show was perfect in every way. Well, the show was too short, but she could have played for 5 hours and I'd still want more.... I was second row in the balcony because I didn't want to stand for 4 hours, but the sound was perfect and the crowd was perfect and Regina was perfect. Love, You're a Whore was the perfect song to end with--even les Québécois couldn't resist the yee-haa! It should also go over well at her Nashville show November 16, to which I plan to purchase tickets in 37 minutes! Yee-haa! |
